Vaginismus occurs in two ways. According to sex-health experts, it is not possible for a woman to have pain-free intercourse in the Premier (primary) type of vaginismus. Because the vaginal muscles surrounding the genitals contract without the control of the woman as if they are having a spasm, which does not allow this. Women with this type of vaginismus have never been able to experience sexual intercourse. These women can neither use vaginal tampons nor pass gynecologist control. If a couple is experiencing primary vaginismus, they cannot have sexual intercourse at all.

This type of ailment is also called secondary vaginismus. This disorder may occur as a result of some important life events, such as a medical operation, any psychological trauma, postpartum or menopause.
