How is Gynecological Examination Performed?
First of all, (vaginal) gynecological examination should be done when the woman is not menstruating, unless there is a very serious and emergency situation. Gynecological examination generally consists of two stages. In the first stage, the general condition and story of the patient is listened, and the second stage consists of some examinations and observations.
In the first stage of the gynecological examination, the physician first listens to the patient's story to evaluate the general condition. Here, the patient's age, marital status, occupation, abortion, abortion, surgeries, habits such as smoking, alcohol and all other important details are evaluated. The clearer and more accurate the patient's answers to the questions asked, the more accurate the physician's assessment of the situation will be. In the meantime, all conversations between the doctor and the patient remain as a professional secret and cannot be shared with anyone. If the patient wishes, a relative or spouse can accompany the examination, if he does not want, he will be examined alone. Here, the patient cannot be forced to go to the examination with someone, and the doctor cannot be forced to share the examination results with third parties, unless there is a legal obligation.
In the second stage of the gynecological examination, which consists of a number of examinations and examinations, the patient, whose story is listened to by a gynecological specialist, is taken to the gynecological examination table for examination. The patient lies on the table, bare from the waist down, placing his legs on the supports. First of all, external genital evaluation is performed and external genital organs are evaluated in detail. Then, a speculum examination is performed to examine the inside of the vagina and the cervix. Then the physician manually examines the genital area. The aim here is to detect manually if there are fibroids, cysts, polyps-like structures in the internal genital organs. Manual examination is also not performed on virgin patients, if the physician needs, they can perform rectal rectal examination on virgin patients. Finally, ultrasound examination is performed. Ultrasound examination is performed in two ways, vaginal and abdominal. Although vaginal ultrasound gives clearer and more understandable results in gynecological examination, if the patient is a virgin, ultrasound is performed from the abdomen. Finally, to repeat; Virgin, speculum examination, manual vaginal examination or vaginal ultrasound cannot be performed on patients.
What is Speculum Examination?
This examination, which is a part of the gynecological examination, is an application in which the inside of the vagina and the cervix are examined and evaluated with a metal or plastic instrument called a speculum, similar to a duckbill. The inner region of the vagina is observed by illuminating it with this tool. The point to be considered here is that the patient should release himself and not contract. Because this procedure is a painless procedure if the patient remains comfortable and relaxed. If deemed necessary by the gynecologist, culture and tissue samples can be taken during the examination. This procedure is not done to virgins.
What is Roof Inspection?
Roof examination is a type of gynecological examination performed in the last weeks of pregnancy. Here, the physician evaluates the possibility of normal delivery before the birth process begins. In this manual examination, it is decided whether there will be a vaginal birth or not, taking into account the birth canal and the size of the baby.
