It is a new term to describe a variety of menopausal symptoms and signs, including urinary symptoms (can't get to the toilet, burning pain when urinating, and recurrent urinary tract infections).
Reasons
Although the main reason is the lack of estrogen in menopause;
surgical menopause
Use of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists
In induced hypoestrogenic conditions such as hypothalamic amenorrhea
It can also occur due to cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, pelvic radiation, or endocrine therapy.
Treatment
Current treatment options include non-hormonal vaginal lubricants to be used during intercourse, long-acting vaginal moisturizers such as hyaluronic acid and the like, systemic hormonal treatments (oral and transdermal), and low-dose vaginal estrogen treatments.
