What is Couvade Syndrome?
It describes a situation in which healthy men whose partners are expecting a baby experience pregnancy-related symptoms.
It typically only occurs during the first and third trimesters of pregnancy.
Nausea, heartburn, abdominal pain, bloating, changes in appetite, breathing problems, toothaches, leg cramps, backaches, and urinary or genital area problems may occur.
These symptoms may include changes in sleep patterns, anxiety, depression, decreased libido, and restlessness.
Although it cannot be proven whether Couvade Syndrome is real or not, what is certain is; Being a new parent can be exciting, emotional and stressful.
By participating in prenatal courses, getting support from your family and friends or your psychologist-psychiatry-gynecologist, you can facilitate your transition to parenthood in terms of understanding and planning the difficulties.
